Now There is Another Solution for Unwanted Hair...
Lasers have been used for many years for a variety of medical procedures. Now lasers are being used for hair reduction. The best results have been achieved on dark hairs, but other factors influence the treatment process. In laser hair removal, the goal is to penetrate the depth of the follicle during the anagen stage of growth. The active stage growth is anagen is when the hair contains an abundance of melanin. Light energy is absorbed by the pigment melanin, transformed into heat energy, and disables the follicle. Another stage of hair growth, catagen, is when the lower part of the hair stops growing but it is not shed, and the follicle is reabsorbed. The resting phase is called telogen, during which the old hair falls out in preparation for the development of the new hair. To achieve long term results, the laser must treat the hair in the anagen stage of hair growth. This is why a series of treatments are needed to achieve long term results.

What to Expect
You and the technician will wear protective goggles to avoid exposure to direct or scattered laser light. The area to be treated will be shaved and a white colored marker will be used to outline the treatment area. The laser will produce a beam of highly concentrated light. The light emitted by the Light Sheer TM Diode laser is absorbed by the pigment located in the hair. The laser pulses for a fraction of a second, just long enough to vaporize the pigment disabling several follicles at a time to eliminate or significantly impede the hair's growth. LightSheer's special Contact cooling hand piece cools and protects the surrounding skin while bringing the laser energy as close as possible to the hair root. For the first few weeks, the hairs will slowly slough off and initially it will look like you have more hair. This will fall out and after a few weeks, the area will be smooth and hairless. You must avoid sun for 4-6 weeks before and after your treatment.

Contraindications...
History of previous treatments, medications, allergies, and pigmentary problems should be discussed prior to the laser treatment. The following medical conditions are contradictions to the use of laser hair reductions: Herpes, Lupus, Pregnancy, Melanoma, Keloids, and Psoriasis. The following medications are photo sensitizers and make the skin more sensitive to sunlight & laser light and may lead to an adverse reaction from the laser: Non-steroidal Anti-inflammatory Agents, Tetracyclines, Griseofulvin, Phenothialnes, Thiazide Diuretics, Sulfonamides, DTIC, Chloroquine, Methotrexate, Sulfonylureas, vinblastine, Aspirin (daily use) must be discontinued 72 hours before treatment.

Follow Up...
More than one treatment is always required. Typical follow-up is 6-8 weeks.
